Carmina Salcido to speak about her new book

Carmina Salcido was just a toddler when her father Ramon picked up a knife and went on a psychotic rampage throughout the Valley 20 years ago.

Salcido’s new book, “Not Lost Forever: My Story of Survival,” documents the events of April 14, 1989 and explores the headline-making murders with clarity and composure. The book also chronicles Salcido’s life after her violent ordeal when she was adopted into a Catholic extremist family who tried to change her name and bury her past. She escaped their influence by joining a Carmelite convent and then a home for troubled girls. She has finally found a measure of peace by turning to the one relative alive to share her grief, her grandfather.

Those interested in hearing more about Salcido’s incredible story are invited to two local events:

On Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sister’s Consignment Couture will host a book signing party for Salcido. She will read an excerpt and be available to sign books, available for purchase at the shop, 120 W. Napa St.

On Sunday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. Readers’ Books will host a reception and a reading by Salcido at Andrews Hall in the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St. $5 donation at the door.
