Don Sebastiani & Sons, a family-owned wine company based in Sonoma, has promoted 29-year wine and spirits industry veteran Tom Hawkins to the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As CFO, Hawkins will continue to be responsible for day-to-day financial operations at the company.

Hawkins has been the company’s vice president of finance since July of 2009.
“We are pleased to promote Tom to the role of Chief Financial Officer and he is well deserving of the title and position,” said Don Sebastiani, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer. “In the past year, he has skillfully handled all of the traditional duties of a CFO, and he has been an invaluable resource to us as a company, to our family, and to me personally. I am very excited to have Tom help guide Don & Sons through our next generation of growth.”

Hawkins began his career in 1981 at Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc., in Frankfort, Kentucky, eventually managing operations, financial reporting and strategic planning. He moved to California in 1999 to oversee Beam’s initial investment in the wine business when they purchased Sonoma County’s Geyser Peak and Canyon Road wineries.

Hawkins played a key role in development and execution of the strategic growth plan for Beam’s wine division, transforming the company from a mid-size premium wine company at conception to an industry leader, culminating in the sale of the division to Constellation Brands in 2007.

“Since joining the company in 2009, I’ve come to truly respect the whole team,” said Hawkins said. “I’ve worked with some of the industries brightest stars over the past 30 years, and these are some of the best. This is an exciting time for Don Sebastiani & Sons, and I’m happy to be along for the ride.”
