Surprise guests introduce “Toy Story 3”

Patrons at Friday’s premiere of “Toy Story 3” at the Sebastiani Theatre got an extra treat along with their popcorn and candy – a surprise appearance by Pixar’s John Lasseter and voice actor John Ratzenberger.

The two celebrities made brief comments to the delighted crowd on June 18. Lasseter said that the voice of Ratzenberger, whose face is best known as Cliff in the TV show “Cheers,” has been in every Pixar film.

“I have been, ever since the first call when you guys were working out of an old Oldsmobile in Richmond,” joked the actor. “It’s been quite an adventure.”

Ratzenberger said his string of Pixar work “is proof that God exists. If you saw my report card from high school, you’d know what I was talking about.”

Lasseter promised the crowd he’d return in exactly one year – the premiere of the next Pixar film, “Cars 2.” Until then, he added, “Please support the Sebastiani Theatre. We love this theatre. Sonoma wouldn’t be the same without it.”
