School district hires part time interim director of human resources

Posted on July 7, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

As was announced earlier this summer, the Sonoma Valley Unified School District’s Human Resources Director Ashley Halliday moved on to a new position beginning July 1. While many of Halliday’s duties will be assumed by existing staff, the SVUSD will also be bringing a new face to the district office on a part-time basis.

Loyal Carlon, a retired human resource director from the Windsor Unified School District, has agreed to work with the district beginning in July two or three days a week as interim director of human resources.  Carlon will continue to work with principals, cabinet and staff on many of the routine matters associated with human resources.

Additionally the district will ask Carlon to assist in evaluating the division of tasks within the district, with a mind toward making the best and most economical use of the resources available.

Prior to his work in Windsor, Carlon served as the assistant superintendent for K-12 instruction in the Santa Rosa City Schools.  He also as site administrative experience at both the elementary and secondary levels.   Since his retirement, Carlon has worked with the Sonoma County Office of Education in support of new administrators.  In addition to his work in Sonoma Valley, he will continue his work with the Stanford University Department of Education doing nationwide work on professional learning communities.
