Presentation announces new hires

Sonoma’s Presentation School has hired three new teachers, all with ties to the area.

Kathryn Faircloth (at left in photo) will teach science, working out of the school’s brand new and fully equipped science lab, to grades five through eight. She will also assist with the school’s successful Science Olympiad Team. Faircloth attended St. Rose Elementary School, Santa Rosa High School and received a B.S. in Biology from Simpson College in Indiana. Faircloth played college soccer and studied abroad in London, England.

After college, a love of science and children led Faircloth to return home to Sonoma County to pursue a teaching credential. She currently lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and two year old son.

Lauren Dunn Miller joins the school to teach first grade. Growing up in Sonoma, Miller was very involved in theatre arts both in and out of school. After high school she studied theater in New York. Miller later moved back to the Bay Area and graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Theatre Arts, a BA in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts, and a minor in History. She received her multiple subject credential from Dominican University and is currently earning her Masters in Education. She lives in Sonoma.

Presentation’s athletic department has added professional rock climber Patrick Smithson. Smithson has trained the Presentation staff on the school’s new rock climbing wall and he will oversee an ambitious climbing program across every grade level this year. He grew up in Santa Rosa and is now studying child development and education at the SRJC. He has worked with children for the past six years at Vertex Climbing Center where he leads summer camps, coaches Team Vertex and teaches Team Vertex.

Presentation also has a new Teaching Assistant, Ellen Toscano of Sonoma (not pictured) as well as a number of new part-time instructors and classroom aides.

Presentation features a teacher to student ratio of [7:1] and an average class size of 16.

The school is located at 20872 Broadway in Sonoma. For more information, please contact School Director Nancy Fischman at 935.0122.
