Gayle Manfre named 2010 Treasure Artist

Posted on September 28, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Gayle Manfre has been named the Treasure Artist of the Year by The Cultural and Fine Arts Commission.

As an artist, Manfre helped create and has worked with the “Art Rewards the Student” program at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art and was instrumental in the development of the Sonoma Skate Park.  Her artistic focus is collaborative mural art, specifically working with children.  Her murals have enabled the children of Flowery and Prestwood schools to experience positive social interaction through group collaboration.

On vacation in Paris when the news broke, Manfre emailed that she was “shocked.”

Manfre was selected by the commission not only for her contributions as a talented teacher and watercolor artist but also for her contributions to the community as a whole and to the arts community.
The commission will host a reception in Manfre’s honor in the near future.  Details of the reception will be announced at a later date.
