Teen bakers offer pies and more for Thanksgiving

Posted on November 17, 2010 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The teen bakers at the Lovin’ Oven are preparing for their first pie sale. Ready to order are homemade, freshly baked pumpkin and pecan pies, priced at $11 and $13 respectively, with orders of three pies or more discounted by $1 per pie.

Orders and money must be received no later than Friday Nov. 19.

Pies must be picked up on Tuesday Nov. 23 between 3 and 6 p.m. at the Valley of the Moon Teen Center, 17440 Sonoma Highway.

The Lovin’ Oven bakers are under the direction of Anea Kamahele and Rebecca Hermosillo. They, together with founding bakers Yazel and Maria Cazares, Janet Gonzales and Esther Oros, will be baking the pies in the teen center’s kitchen.

Order forms are available by emailing [email protected]. Or, you may call to order at 939.1452 or fax at 938.2411.

Grants from the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Foundation and U.S. Bank last spring were used as seed money for “Lovin Oven,” whose products have been well received. The girls sold baked goods at the Sonoma Community Center Saturday Market this past summer. They have also baked desserts for events throughout the North Bay.
