Hospital board reshuffles officers

Peter Hohorst, elected to the Sonoma Valley Health Care District Board of Directors in 2008, was elevated to chairman Thursday in the panel’s annual election of officers.

With newly sworn-in member Kevin Carruth participating, the panel chose Madolyn Agrimonti for the post of vice-chairman.

Hohorst replaces Bill Boerum, who served two years as chairman. Nominated by Agrimonti, Hohorst gave a short platform speech promising to continue to build a strong working relationship between the board and the hospital administration.

Boerum pitched strongly to retain the post, nominating himself and citing a string of successful initiatives. “I feel I’m the most qualified to do the job,” he said. “I believe I’ve conducted the board in a way that has restored trust.”

His fellow members were unswayed. The vote for Hohorst was 4 to 1.

In other officer confirmations, the re-elected David Chambers was named board treasurer, and Carruth, elected Nov. 2, will serve as its secretary.

It was the final board meeting for Dr. Richard Kirk, who chose not to run for re-election this year.
