Vendor applications due for Farmers Market

Posted on February 24, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The first Tuesday night Farmers Market is still a few months (and storms) away, but applications to sell goods at the weekly Plaza event are due March 1.

The new Valley of the Moon Certified Farmers Market (VOMCFM), the group awarded the management contract in December, will commence its season on May 3.

According to Bill Dardon, the group’s board president, the mission of the VOMCFM is to provide a venue for certified and local farmers to market diverse, high-quality agricultural products to the local community.

The group aims to provide healthy food choices from select food vendors, he said, while offering an educational forum for consumers to learn the uses and benefits of locally grown foods. Adding live music and entertainment will create a festive community evening unique to the character of Sonoma.

Vendor and talent applications are available now at vomcfm.com. The deadline is March 1. Application fees are non-refundable.

Vendors will be open for business around the Sonoma Plaza Horseshoe and behind City Hall from 5:30 to dusk each Tuesday evening through October 25.
