Hitting the high C's

The Sonoma Valley High School Music and Drama Departments go tropical with the classic Rogers & Hammerstein musical “South Pacific” at the school’s Little Theatre. The two weekend run begins Friday night, April 15.

The story is drawn from a Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by James A. Michener. A Broadway hit, in its debut and revivals, the show includes memorable tunes such as “Bali Ha’I,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” and “Some Enchanted Evening.”

The cast of the high school production includes Carlos Garcia Galarce, Shawn Echeverria, Olivia Donald, Amber Sanfillippo, Elena Tennant, Jacqueline Wurst, Colin Wilson, Peter Sours, Henry Porcayo, Unmi Yank and Julie Ea.

The show is directed by Jane Martin, with musical direction by Barbara McElroy and choreography by Kate Leland.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, April 15-16 and 22-23. There will 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday, April 17 and Saturday, April 23.

Admission is $15, $10 for students and seniors. World War II veterans will be admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Reader’s Books and Pharmaca. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
