Fresh look for Bank of Marin branch

Posted on April 22, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Bank of Marin will begin a remodel of 136 W. Napa St. in May and looks to open the branch in late summer. The plans to spruce up the empty building, previously a Bank of America office, have been approved by the Sonoma Design Review Commission.

The remodel involves no structural changes. The original design called for a new window in the front façade, but that element would have involved significant structural upgrades. Instead, a square of decorative stone tile will adorn the street-facing wall.

Metal canopies, and signage with aluminum and bronze elements, are also part of the plan. The design proposal conforms to all sign regulations.

Branch Manager Marck Zuehlsdorff said he was excited by the positive response from the design panel. “We look forward to serving this great community from our new home,” he said.

The bank is currently operating in Sonoma and seeing customers by appointment at an interim location at 255 W. Napa Street, according to spokesperson Sandy Paff.

Bank of Marin has 17 offices in Marin, San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma counties. Celebrating its 21st anniversary in 2011, Bank of Marin has been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work in the Bay Area” and one of the “Top Corporate Philanthropists” by the San Francisco Business Times.
