To market

Posted on May 2, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Tuesday Farmers’ Market opens with a Cinco de Mayo flourish on May 3 with Flamenco dancing and live Mariachi music.

The new season opens with 63 vendors of certified produce, prepared foods, arts and crafts, and entertainers. Booths will occupy the both lanes of the City Hall horseshoe, and wrap around the north side of the building.

Vendors will be open for business from 5:30 to dusk each Tuesday evening through October 25.

The new market manager is Andrea Davis-Cetina, the owner and operator of Quarter Acre Farms, a small, organic vegetable farm in Sonoma Valley. A gardening teacher, she has a BA in Sustainable Agriculture Methods with a focus on Local Food Systems from Hampshire College in Amherst.

Also new to the market for 2011 is a robust recycling program with many new, highly-visible bins and an awareness program to better educate vendors and Plaza guests on proper recycling habits.
