Memorial Day 2011

Posted on May 19, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Sonoma’s 53rd annual Memorial Day observance will be held on Monday, May 30. Events begin at 11 a.m. with a grand march of the flags of all services into the Veterans Cemetery on First Street West. The guest speaker will be Consul General of France Romain Serman, who will present French Legion of Honor medals to soldiers who fought with distinction on French soil in WWII. Ten men eligible for the award have been invited to receive the award, one of France’s highest honors. After the ceremony and the laying of a wreath on the star of honor, a free picnic lunch will be served at the adjacent Veterans Building.

  1. More F-16s!! We need more F-16s!!! Love the fact we live in a town that does such an amazing job of remembering the fallen. A super big thank you to all who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
