If you love good food and family-style fun, mark your calendar for two upcoming Sonoma Plaza events as traditional as butter on corn.

On June 5, it’s the annual Ox Roast Picnic on the Plaza. From 11a.m. to 5 p.m. food, wine and beer, kids’ games and live music are all part of the fun, presented by the Sonoma Community Center. Tickets are $7 to $12.

The annual Bear Flag Celebration follows on June 12. The day, which this year commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Bear Flag, begins with an 11 a.m. ceremony in the Grinstead Amphitheatre. At noon, the Plaza booths open for a chicken BBQ feast prepared by Native Sons of the Golden West Sonoma Parlor #111. Food, microbrews and live music with Backtrax will be featured until 5 p.m.

There will be an historical re-enactment of the Bear Flag Revolt in the amphitheatre at 1 p.m.
