Busch takes Infineon flag

Kurt Busch won Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, the first road course victory of his NASCAR career.

Jeff Gordon, who has won the race five times, finished second, followed by Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, and Marcos Ambrose.

Polesitter Joey Logano, winner of Saturday’s Thunder Valley Casino Resort 200 at Infineon, placed sixth.

Finishing seventh was defending race champ Jimmie Johnson.

NASCAR fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr. was knocked out of the race after multi-car crash on the 37th lap.

The pile-up was the result of an on-track feud between drivers Tony Stewart and Brian Vickers. Stewart pushed Vickers’ Toyota, causing the crash. Later in the race, Vickers retaliated, he admitted to reporters, by bumping Stewart’s car into a tire barrier.

Vickers finished 36th and Stewart brought his damaged Chevrolet in at 39th.

Busch led most of the race. The victory was his first of the season and the 23rd of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career.
