Evans: no Congress run

State Senator Noreen Evans has announced that she will not run for the 6th District congressional district, which represents much of the Sonoma Valley.

“Over the last few months, many community members have approached me about the possibility of running for U.S. Congress should Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey decide to retire,” she said in a statement. “It is an honor to even be considered for such a prestigious position. After much consideration, however, I’ve decided not to run for Congress.”

Evans declared that “As the representative of the Second State Senate District, I feel that there is much work to be done on behalf of my constituents. Our state faces many economic, environmental, and social challenges, and I believe that I can contribute greatly to the solutions needed. I look forward to focusing on chairing the Judicial Committee and continuing to serve my constituents.”
