Kirsten Stewart, Raquel Sembrana and Tony Montellano oversaw the conversion of 29 apartments at the Oregon Street facility.

The response to Merrill Gardens at Sonoma’s new assisted living services has been strong, including attracting clients from out of town relocating to join family members in the Sonoma Valley.

“Once they see Sonoma, they know this is a great place to live,” said Kirsten Stewart, community relations manager.

Last month, Merrill Gardens unveiled 29 apartments licensed to provide assisted living services. The units are part of the Oregon Street facility that also maintains 124 independent living apartments.

The assisted living program is overseen by a nurse and team of caregivers.

Stewart said that services are provided to residents in the privacy of their own apartments and are designed to help with the tasks of daily living, such as medication management or dressing assistance. Residents are only charged for the services they want and need in this personalized program.

“We are very excited that we can now offer our residents assisted living services,” said Tony Montellano, general manager. “The program is a great addition because it allows residents to receive whatever help they may need while maintaining a quality lifestyle.

Merrill Gardens at Sonoma features month to month rental, health club membership, weekly housekeeping, scheduled transportation, organized daily activities, and the exclusive Anytime Dining program.

“Living at Merrill Gardens is all about choice and this is an important option for residents.” Montellano said.
