Westamerica Bank supports “Skills for Life” program

The No Name Café was the scene for a recent donation in support of Sonoma Valley Teen Services “Skills for Life” program. Westamerica Bank’s Christy Coulston presented the $1,500 check to a few of the students who run the café, which provides teens experiential learning in planning purchases and sales of food items and beverages to students. Another SVTS program is the popular “Lovin’ Oven,” which is a teen operated bakery at The Valley of the Moon Teen Center. The teens plan budgets, purchase ingredients, bake and sell food at special events and at the farmers markets. The Shop is a teen run event venue where teens organize, promote and put on entertainment shows that include teen bands and poetry slams. Experiential, hands-on programs are designed to reinforce and foster student academic and career interests through involvement with the community and local businesses.
