Bomb threat puts high school into lock down

Posted on November 16, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Update: A bomb threat at Sonoma Valley High School at approximately 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, November 16 came in the form of a note on a garbage can behind Golten Hall.

According to Principal Dino Battaglini, the threat was non-credible but precautions were put in place nonetheless with students being evacuated from the area in question and placed in lock down in their classrooms.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s department responded immediately and deployed a bomb robot which investigated the suspicious garbage.

As of the end of the school day, an unspecified number of students had been detained as suspects. According to Battaglini, while the incident is believed to have been a prank, the students will be charged with making a felony threat and recommended for expulsion.
