Seven Sonoma women were recognized recently for their service during the 2010-2011 year of scouting. Girl Scouting in the Valley has grown rapidly over the past few years due, in large part, to the dedication and support of the following women:
Tali Mallory received the Appreciation Pin, a Girl Scout National Award that recognizes volunteers who have significantly contributed in one geographic area. Mallory is the leader of Ambassador Troop 10020 and has served as the local Sonoma Valley Service Unit for the past few years.

Darcy McNairy and Lisa Ziganti were both awarded Outstanding Leaders of the Year, an honor given to those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members.

McNairy is the leader of Junior Troop 10141. She acts as the Service Recruitment Coordinator and has made significant contributions to the Girl Scouts of Sonoma Valley. Ziganti is the leader of Brownie & Junior Troop 10223, bringing a well-balanced program to her girls. She is also involved with Sonoma Girl Scout Day Camp.

Additionally, the Years in Scouting award was given to the following women who received special recognition for their number of combined years as a girl and adult member:

June Sabel – 70 Year Pin
Dianne Rank – 55 Year Pin
Jill Valavanis – 40 Year Pin
DeDe Rank – 30 Year Pin
