Janet Cain and Club Dave wrapped up another year of running at the 37th annual S.F. Christmas Relays on December 18, 2011.  Each of the four runners on the team made the 4.5-mile lap around Lake Merced.  Club Dave had three teams, and their 50-year-old-plus women’s team took 2nd place.

This completes quite a year for team Captain Janet Cain, who turned 60 in March and competes in the 60-64 year-old category.  In April, Cain took tenth place at the Boston Marathon, in May she led Club Dave in the 199-mile “Relay.”  In June, she set a new age group course record at Grandmas’ half-marathon in Duluth, Minn.  The July highlight was to be invited to be on Team USA for the world’s Master Championship.  She earned personal bronze and team gold medals.  In September, she was overall winner (age graded) at the Dick Beardsley half-marathon in Detroit Lakes, Minn.  In October, she ran the USA Track and Field National Championship Marathon and took 2nd place.  It was her 57th marathon, but she certainly plans on many more.
