Celebrating Whitney Evans

Posted on February 23, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The City of Sonoma will host the annual passing of the Alcalde’s Cane from Mary Evelyn Arnold to Whitney Evans on Thursday March 1 at Vintage House from 4 to 6 p.m. Vintage House is located at 264 First Street East, Sonoma. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door and wine, refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Reservations are not necessary.

The grand tradition of honoring individuals as the Alcalde is a tribute to the dedicated and heartfelt work these individuals perform for Sonoma and Sonoma Valley. Whitney Evans certainly meets that criteria. His community service includes being the founding president of the Sonoma Valley Fund and he is currently chair of their Endowment Committee, past board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley, current chair of their Endowment Committee and volunteer campaign director of their Dream Builders Capital Campaign.  Evans is also co-founder of the Sonoma Valley Special Olympics, chair of the development committee for WilMar Center’s Guardians of the Light Program, a member of Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley and a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Please join in celebrating the Alcalde tradition of the City and Valley. For more information please contact Mayor Pro Tem Ken Brown at 938.8623 and [email protected] and Sonoma City Clerk Gay Johann at 933.2216 or [email protected].
