Chapter two

Posted on March 20, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Under budget and ahead of schedule, the Sonoma Valley Regional Library reopened Tuesday at 755 W. Napa St. after a $2.3 million makeover. The nine-month project added new heating and air systems, along with other energy-efficient upgrades, and brought the 30-year-old building up to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and seismic standards.

Inside, the facility boasts more computers, a periodical reading room and a teen reading room. The job was originally budgeted at $2.5 million, with a projected finish date well into the summer. During construction, the library was housed at Burlingame Hall on West Spain Street.

Library hours are: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be closed Sunday and Monday.
