Museum cooks up ‘Feast of Art’

Posted on June 14, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

It’s a marriage of fine art and great food as Sonoma Valley Museum of Art holds its annual Wet Paint gala dinner and auction at Ramekins Culinary School & Events Center on Saturday night, June 17. The event, now in its 12th year, is a major fundraiser for the museum’s year-round programs and exhibitions.

This year’s theme is Feast on Art. “Creativity is what makes fine art as well as fine cuisine,” said Museum Director Kate Eilertsen. “This intersection of food and art is a perfect combination.”

Guests will be able to watch local fine artists, including Dick Cole, create works of art during the reception. There will be a pizza demo, Sonoma Valley wines and a silent auction tables. Auction items include an SVMA art trip for two to Cuba, a trapeze class and lunch party for 10, a private safari party for up to 50 people at Lyon Ranch, and a suite of lithographs by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

“It’s going to be a blast,” said Event Chair Allan Grosh. “Between the food and setting at Ramekins and the excitement of bidding on European vacations, beautiful paintings, and art trips, we’re going to have one heck of a party!”

Tickets for Wet Paint are now on sale at 939.7862 or Svma.org.
