Arrest in Austin Ridge beating case

A Boyes Hot Springs man already in jail on arson charges has been re-booked for the attempted murder of Austin Ridge, the 28-year-old who was brutally attacked and beaten in the early hours of April 25.

Logan Dunning, 22, was charged Tuesday. His bail is currently set at $1 million.
Ridge, partially disabled but an avid bike rider, was found unconscious in the 18000 block of Lucas Ave. at about 4:30 a.m. on the day of the attack. He had sustained knife wounds and a severe head injury.

Dunning became a suspect in the Ridge case during the investigation, according to police reports. Detectives subsequently conducted a probation search of his residence and located several key pieces of evidence, including the knife used in the stabbing and other trace evidence that led to a positive DNA match.

Dunning had been arrested May 1 by the Santa Rosa Police Department in connection with a series of arson cases in West Santa Rosa. He now faces additional charges of attempted murder, mayhem, and crimes against persons with disabilities.
