Thrift shop donates $11k to schools

Posted on September 6, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Republic of Thrift, a purveyor of “gently used items” in the Springs, will distribute $11,000 to local schools, bringing the store’s donation total to $19,606 in its first year of business.

“We are very proud of our community and the work that we’ve done, “ said owner Jeannette Tomany.  “To have generated over $19,000 after only seven months of opening really underscores this point.”

One hundred percent of the store’s net profits go to Sonoma Valley public schools, and owner Jeannette Tomany will continues to work without salary until January 2013. She hopes to demonstrate to the community that the store is committed to providing much-needed additional revenue for cash-strapped District wide schools.

“This is what motivates our team,” Tomany said. “It feels good to help make a difference in education.”

Republic of Thrift accepts gently used clothing, shoes, furniture, house wares and other items. The shop is located at 17496 Sonoma Hwy.
