Synergy Medical Group’s Dr. Kimberly Hubenette and Elizabeth Toscano buy back Halloween goodies from trick-or-treaters during the annual Cash4Candy event on November 1. The event had a carnival atmosphere complete booths, raffle prizes, face painting, t-shirts and toys.

“With this fourth year of our hosting this program, we think the community is becoming more aware of our effort to combat juvenile obesity and diabetes,” said Dr. Yolanda Mangrum, co-owner of Synergy Dental Group.

The Sonoma office, along with Petaluma Dental’s Wellness Campus, has collected over 3.5 tons of candy since 2008. Avoiding and limiting sugar is the best way to avoid tooth decay, obesity, diabetes, suppressed immune system and heart disease. All proceeds from Cash4Candy will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Petaluma Educational Foundation and the Sonoma Valley Educational Foundation.
