The life of Chapman

Posted on November 14, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

“I had no idea until recently that Graham Chapman is in fact dead,” said fellow Monty Python mate Terry Jones, “I thought that he was just being lazy.”

Chapman has indeed been dead for 23 years, but also, somehow, quite busy. “A Liar’s Autobiography — The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman,” screening Friday, Nov. 16 at Murphy’s Irish Pub, is the animated movie of his Chapman’s own life story complete with his own voice (he recorded himself reading his book, “A Liar’s Autobiography” before his death) and those of John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, and honorary Pythonette Cameron Diaz.

Not a documentary, not a Monty Python film, the “factually incorrect” feature” is described as Chapman’s own surreal take on his bizarre life and his search for self-knowledge. Two screenings. Two screenings: the first show will open at 5:45 p.m. and the second at 8:45 p.m. $20 includes drink, hors d’oeuvres and film. 464 First St. E. Sonomafilmfest.org.
