Posted on November 26, 2012 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A Kenwood man was rescued by helicopter after he fell and lost consciousness while hiking Thanksgiving morning at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park.

Stephen Cavellini, 68, fell about 14 feet onto rocky terrain near Gunsight Rock.

Cavellini was discovered by other hikers, who called 911 to summon help. The helicopter crew used a 100-foot-long line to reach and secure the injured man. He was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with a head injury.
