Friday. December 7

Hometown Band Christmas Concert
“Music by the Hearthside” is the theme for The Sonoma Hometown Band’s free holiday shows. The program features “Twas The Night Before Christmas” narrated by Butch Engle, Tchaikovsky’s “Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairies” as arranged and recorded by Mannheim Steamroller, “Frosty The Snowman” and many more favorites. 7 p.m. Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St.

Saturday, December 8

Sonoma Valley Chorale
The Chorale’s 40th annual Christmas concert, titled “Joylicious,” includes renditions of “Ave Maria,” “O Magnum Mysterious” and “Il Est Ne,” plus contemporary favorites “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Let It Snow,” “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and many others. A special treat will be local conductors Ruth Wells, Beth Carter, and Janet Ryvlin directing Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus from the “Messiah.” David Irvine conducts the chorus. Joanne Connors is the accompanist. Shows at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. $20 adult,
$16 senior and $10 for children 10 and under. Tickets are available at Pharmaca, The UPS Store in Sonoma or at the door, 126 First St. W. 935.1576.

Christmas at the Mission
The 27th annual program of traditional carols and readings, coordinated by the Sonoma Valley Ministerial Association, Program times are 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. The popular event is free, but tickets are required. The Mission, at the corner of First Street East and East Spain Streets, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a limit of four tickets per person.

Sunday, December 9

Hometown & High School Band Concert
For its second holiday show, The Sonoma Hometown Band is joined by the Sonoma Valley High School Band, conducted by. The groups will perform separately, then join together for several big, big band tunes. 2 p.m. Free. SVHS Little Theatre, 2000 Broadway.

VOM Chamber Ensemble
The annual Valley of the Moon Chamber Ensemble Christmas and Holiday Concert offers a program of (mostly) unaccompanied sacred and secular songs of the season. A benefit for the Sonoma Community Center, at Andrews Hall. 3 p.m. $25-$40. 938.4626. Svbo.org.
