First District Supervisor Susan Gorin has named Cotati City Councilmember Pat Gilardi as her District Director, a post responsible for constituent services, scheduling and representing the supervisor throughout the community.

Gilardi, a Marin County native, has worked for the Marin Independent Journal since 1987 in advertising sales management. A member of the Cotati City Council since 2000, Gilardi will resign that post to assume her new role, and $73,000 annual salary, on January 28.

“She brings a wealth of professional experience and personal qualities that will serve our constituents well and ensure they have responsive and effective representation,” Gorin said. “Beyond being a policy expert, she also brings private sector experience and understands the challenges facing the community.”

Gilardi served two terms as Parent Teacher Association president in the Cotati-Rohnert Park School District, and three years on the Cotati Planning Commission. The Cotati Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year 2006, Gilardi is a former Executive Board Officer of Sonoma County 4-H, and the co-founder of Cotati 4-H.

“It is an honor to work for Supervisor Gorin and the people of the First District, Gilardi said. “I share Supervisor Gorin’s staunch commitment to ensuring that government is responsive, effective and working every day to improve our quality of life.”

Gilardi grew up in Marin County where she attended local schools including College of Marin, with a focus was on journalism. She married West Marin native Ed Gilardi in 1983. After living on the family dairy ranch for a short time, the couple moved to Sonoma County in 1984. They have two adult children, Marissa and Anthony.

After Jan. 28, Gilardi can be reached at 707.565.3752 or [email protected].
