Banner day for the environment

Posted on February 21, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A Sonoma contingent including, from left, Ed Clay, Tom Conlon and Tim Boeve march in Sunday’s environmental rally in San Francisco. Transition Sonoma Valley was one of more than 60 Bay Area groups, including Greenpeace and 350.org, protesting the proposed $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline, which would run Canadian oil product 2,000 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. As with similar events in Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle, the demonstration was held in conjunction with a huge gathering in Washington DC, which organizers called the largest climate change rally in U.S. history. Sonoma native Mae Boeve, executive director of 350.org, will give a brief update of the global warming debate at a Transition Sonoma Valley event on Monday, February 25. Details.
