Prestwood principal resigns

Posted on February 28, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Beth Wolk, principal of Prestwood Elementary School for eight years, has resigned. She told staff that she is in the process of deciding whether to retire, return to the classroom, or seek a part-time job in education.

Wolk is looking for more time to spend with her four grandchildren as well as volunteer in their classrooms, according to School District Superintendent Louann Carlomagno.

Prior to becoming the principal of Prestwood in July 2005, Wolk served as a principal in the Petaluma and Piner-Olivet school districts and as an assistant principal in the Cotati-Rohnert Park school district. Prior to her administrative experiences she taught in preschool, elementary and middle school.

Ms. Wolk expressed her appreciation to staff and parents for wonderful school they have created at Prestwood and her optimism for Prestwood’s future, Carlomagno said.

Carlomagno will be meeting with staff and parents in the coming weeks to hear their suggestions on the qualities and attributes they are looking for in a new principal.

On a personal note, Carlomagno said, she wishes Wolk well as she gets to spend more time with her growing family; and thanks her for her efforts in building culture, promoting student success and engaging the Prestwood community during her tenure at Prestwood.
