Junior Girl Scouts from Troop 10240 representing Sweden, one of 13 nations presented by a different scout group, serve Swedish meatballs at their booth during World Thinking Day. Represented countries were Australia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Egypt, Madagascar, Ireland, India, Malta, Sweden, Fiji, Mexico, Mongolia and Venezuela. Each troop wore native dress, and presented a game or craft representing their selected country, along with a food or beverage.

The February 24 event at Altimira Middle School featured opening and closing ceremonies, a parade of nations’ flags and a world bazaar of food and crafts. It was attended by 165 Sonoma Girl Scouts and 60 adult volunteers. Organized locally by Cadette Troop 10032, the day is the biggest Girl Scout event of the year and celebrated worldwide in late February as a way for scouts to think of one another in all 145 countries where there are Girl Scout or Girl Guide programs.
