The creative spark

Posted on March 13, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

St. Francis Solano students Mckayla Salcedo and Isabelle Costanzo create their own version of Monet for the school’s March 15 “Through the Eyes of Young Artists” event at the Hanna Boys Center. Each student will exhibit an art project, from kindergartners’ interpretations of Matisse to fourth graders’ take on Van Gogh to the careful pointillist study by the graduating eighth grade class.

The performing arts are showcased as well, with vocal and instrumental performances from St. Francis students from 6 to 7:15 p.m. These talented students will cover classical and contemporary pieces, in vocal, string and piano, followed by a student concert with special guest performer Idol Danny Wirick, the original Sonoma Idol. The show wraps up with a set from the young rock band Traffic Jam.

With the goal of bringing families together for a festive and affordable night, ticket prices have been lowered to $25 per adult. Children under 14 are free, but must be accompanied by an adult. Ticket price includes entry, selection of appetizers including local cheeses and one complimentary glass of wine. Tickets available at 996.4994 or at the door. 17000 Arnold Drive.
