Celebration of Women event

The Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation’s Pulse Award, which honors outstanding Sonoma Valley women who have made significant contributions to the community through their volunteerism, community involvement and philanthropy, this year honors Valerie Brown and Harriet Derwingson.

The two will recognized for their service at the 8th annual Celebration of Women luncheon on Friday, May 17, 11:30 a.m., at Ramekins Culinary School, Events & Inn.

“Sonoma is a better place because of these amazing women,” said Event Chair and Foundation Board member Madolyn Agrimonti. “I look forward to honoring Harriet and Valerie as well as celebrating the spirit of generosity that makes this community so special.”

Past honorees Karen Collins and Jean Arnold Sessions are Honorary Chairs, and Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce CEO Jennifer Yankovich will serve as emcee.

Previous Pulse award recipients include Julie Atwood, Kathy Benziger, Judith Bjorndal, MD, Suzanne Brangham, Phyllis Carter, Susan Chew, Karen Collins, Patti England, Helen Fernandez, Jean Hopeman, Marcia Levy, Yolanda Mangrum, DDS, Elsa Nelson, Marcia Nelson, Barbara Nobles, Valerie Pistole, Rose Mary Schmidt, Jean Arnold Sessions, Carolyn Stone and Tina Wolfenden.

Tickets to Celebration of Women are $100, and proceeds benefit women’s health and wellness programs at Sonoma Valley Hospital, including funding mammograms for un/underinsured women each May and October.
