Ox Roast canceled

Sonoma Community Center has announced that its traditional annual fundaiser, Ox Roast, will not occur this year. The traditional event on Sonoma Plaza, always scheduled the first Sunday of June, will be on hiatus this year as event planners confer about a potential new format when it returns next year.

According to SCC Executive Director Toni Castrone, the unavailability of key event planners is the reason for the cancellation. “We are so lucky to have so many wonderful volunteers bring this event to life each year. But this year, key planning committee members that spends six months planning the event were unable to serve in their regular capacitiy.”

Castrone stressed that SCC hopes to reactivate the well-loved Ox picnic when it returns next year. “We will be brainstorming with folks who have event planning experience to create a bigger and even better Ox. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our community at the Plaza again next year.”
