Forever remembered

The 55th Annual Sonoma Valley Joint Memorial Day Observance will be held on Monday, May 27, at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Park. adjacent to the Sonoma Veterans Building, 126 First Street West. The Guest of Honor for the 11 a.m. ceremony is Dr. Frances L. Harvey, who served as the 19th Secretary of the Army.

All veterans are invited to wear their best military uniforms (or appropriate attire) and participate in the grand march at the opening of the ceremony. Veterans who want to participate are requested to muster at 10:30 a.m. beneath the flag of their particular branch of the armed forces in the parking lot.

Color guard, prayer, patriotic music and a fly-over are part of the ceremony. City Councilmember Laurie Gallian and her son, Marine Reserve Lance Cpl. Shane Dalton, will also make a presentation. Following the ceremony a free lunch will be served in the Veterans Building hosted by the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley.
