Posted on August 23, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A Sonoma Valley man shot himself Wednesday in a car parked in the Sheriff’s Sonoma Valley Substation lot in El Verano.

Morris Tabak, 59, died of single gunshot wound, according to a statement from Sonoma Police Chief Bret Sackett.

Authorities were notified of a despondent and potentially suicidal subject who had left his residence in a green Dodge Durango. Deputies began an immediate search of the area.

The vehicle was discovered at about 8:30 p.m. in the Valley substation parking lot on Grove Street. Tabak was found dead inside the vehicle.

The cause of death will not be released until toxicology reports have been completed, following an autopsy on Thursday.
