Planning the winter garden

Posted on September 3, 2013 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Quarter Acre Farm owner Andrea Davis-Cetina speaks on “Starting and Enjoying a Winter Garden” at the Valley of the Moon Garden Club meeting on September 5, 7 p.m. at the Sonoma Community Center. The goal of the free workshop: provide all the information needed to go home, plant a garden and be harvesting and eating fresh vegetables this winter.

With a BA in Sustainable Agriculture, Davis-Cetina moved to California in 2005 and quickly got her hands dirty by creating and maintaining edible gardens for restaurants and private clients. In 2008 she took the leap to start Quarter Acre Farm on a quarter-acre of land. Only sustainable growing methods are used: no pesticides, herbicides, or petroleum-based products are ever applied on the land.

Davis-Cetina will share her expertise on planning the winter garden, what and when to plant, and maintaining and harvest.

The public is welcome. The meeting includes refreshments and a raffle to win free plants. The Valley of the Moon Garden Club is a non-profit organization hosting gardeners of all levels to share and learn about gardening in a fun atmosphere. For more information call George at 935.5939.
