Local honors from Hospice by the Bay

Carol Brown and Kathleen McIntyre, both of Sonoma, receive special honors from Hospice by the Bay as the nonprofit saluted 500 community volunteers at its Volunteer Appreciation Reception.

Brown was presented the Spirit of Generosity award for giving the “gift of time” by making 323 patient care visits during 2012–13. McIntrye, for outreach in the community supporting the organization’s compassionate care, received The Spirit of Community award.

The second-oldest hospice in the nation, Hospice by the Bay provides hospice care and grief support throughout Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco and Northern San Mateo counties. Through its community grief support program, Hospice by the Bay also serves all community members whose lives have been affected by the loss of a loved one.

The Sept. 17 event recognized the indispensable contributions of community members who selflessly give of their time to support the agency’s vital mission. Also honored were Robert H. Beadle of Larkspur; Tom Lyon of San Francisco; and Pam Martori of Belvedere.
