Boys & Girls Club welcomes new board members

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley recently welcomed Mike Schuh, Mike Kimball, Matt Sevenau and Windee Smith to its Board of Directors.

Mike Schuh is a mostly-retired Silicon Valley executive and Venture Capitalist. Mike and his wife, Mary, made Glen Ellen their primary residence in 1997. They have two grown, married sons and two granddaughters. In addition to the Boys & Girls Club board, Schuh is a member of the board of directors of one public and two private companies on the Peninsula.

Mike Kimball is an attorney in private practice representing VC Firms and technology companies in Silicon Valley, New York, Europe and Asia. Before starting his own practice, he spent several years as inside counsel at Yahoo! and other Bay Area companies. Prior to his legal career, Mike was a naval officer assigned to a nuclear submarine where he was instrumental in oceanographic research and training missions. He and his wife Dawn have three grown children, and moved to Sonoma with Ollie, their yellow lab, in 2011. Mike has been a member of the B&GC Finance Committee since 2011 and a member of the Executive Board since 2013.

A Boys & Girls Club alumni from the 1970s, Matt Sevenau understands the importance of the Club for children who need it. He now appreciates the benefits of the Club for kids who just want to be there for the amazing offerings it provides through its after school and summer programs. Committed to making the Club a community hub for children and families, Sevenau, a local business owner and real estate agent with two children, hopes to make a difference with his presence on the board.

Windee Smith moved to Sonoma in 2002. Prior to moving she had a restaurant and a wine store in San Francisco for many years. She is currently the owner of The Valley Wine Shack in Sonoma. Not long after moving here she became aware of the Club and its positive impact on the community. After seeing how many families feel the impact of the Club’s programs, she was committed to serving the Club in any capacity. She feels that being a member of the Board and the Marketing Committee allows her to serve not only the Club but, as the Club is such an integral part of Sonoma, the community as a whole.

The new members join new Board President Larry Krieger, Lars Asbjornsen, Joe Capriola, outgoing Board President Marchelle Carleton, Klara Crean, Erin Riley Downing, Dana Freudenberger, Susan Lowe, Mike Minigan, Julius Schillinger, and Carolyn Stone.
