Posted on January 15, 2014 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Terry Leen, left, takes over from Gary Magnani as the new Commander of American Legion Jack London Post #489. Magnani served 10 years leading the post, one of Sonoma County’s most active service organizations.

Leen served in the United States Air Force as a firefighter; he retired from Alameda County Fire Department as a Fire Captain. Terry has been a member of the American Legion for six years where he served as Sergeant at Arms.

Jack London Post 489 will continue its commitment by assisting active duty military personnel, veterans and our community. A sample of what we do is, supporting Blue and Gold Star Families, Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Park, Wreaths Across America, sending packages to active military overseas, Boys and Girls State, Fisher House at Travis AFB, local veterans in need and local children educational scholarships.

The Post welcomes new members or guests to its dinner and meetings which are held the second Thursday of each month at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Building 126 First Street West, Sonoma; dinner and social at 6pm, followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.
