Final soccer signups this weekend

Posted on March 10, 2014 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Valley of the Moon Soccer Club will hold a soccer clinic and registration event for children ages 5 to 16 on Saturday, March 15 at Larson Park in Boyes Hot Springs. Kids can come and practice at the free soccer clinic between 10 a.m. and noon. Registration for spring and summer soccer teams will take place all day.

Registration is open to boys for competitive teams, and boys and girls for recreational teams. Registration for officials — coaches, referees, and field coordinators — will also take place.

Soccer season starts in mid-May and runs through the end of July. The VMSC, now in its fourth year, usually organizes 100 to 150 players to take part in three teams comprising their league, and participants are given the opportunity to play on a competitive team.

Also on the March 15 schedule at 12:30 p.m., the Valley of the Moon Soccer Club will honor last year’s teams for their successful winning record in 2013.

Registration for the soccer season requires registrant’s birth certificate and a registration fee of $75. For more information call the Valley of the Moon Soccer Club at 721.9533. The soccer program is sponsored by Nuestra Voz of Sonoma, a local non-profit in the Sonoma Valley.

Larson Park is located on DeChene Avenue in Boyes Hot Springs.
