Annex - Bogart, Humphrey (Maltese Falcon, The)_01As Sam Spade in the film noir classic “The Maltese Falcon,” Humphrey Bogart is to detectives what hardboiled is to eggs.

The 1941 film is based on the novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett, who wrote Spade tough enough to out maneuver quirky criminals Sydney Greenstreet (“the fat man’) and Peter Lorre (the weasely Joel Cairo) and resist the tempting Mary Astor in the search for the mysterious avian statuette. Monday, April 14, 7 p.m. Sebastiani Theatre. $8. 996.9756.
