Three strikes, bad mom gets worse, bunny revealed, and more
The Sonoma County Taxpayers’ Association is none too happy with Caryl Hart, director of the Sonoma County Parks Department. It seems Hart has agreed to address the group three times, and canceled each time. Hard to say whether members are more upset with the no-shows, or that Hart “lacked the common courtesy of calling to make her apologies, leaving the dirty work to subordinates.”
May 12 will afford a rare sighting in our humble environs of Assemblymember Marc Levine, whose District 10 includes the city of Sonoma. The Sonoma Valley Democrats will host a forum with candidates Erin Carlstrom, Diana Conti, Veronica Jacobi and Levine, 6:30 p.m. Seven Flags Club House, 300 International Blvd, in the Seven Flags Mobile Home Park… Perhaps from at least one of the participants can be extracted the promise that if elected, she or he will make a public appearance here in a non-election year. Seems like we don’t rate much attention tucked way up here at the edge of district boundary. That sound of silence is your vote being taken for granted.
Across the street, in District 4, which begins north of the Sonoma city limit, Bill Dodd has won the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson, Dodd, a Napa County Supervisor, is facing fellow Democrats Joe Krovoza, the mayor of Davis, and Davis Mayor Pro Tem Dan Wolk, as well as Republicans Dustin Call, a legislative aide, and Charlie Schaupp, retired Marine Corps… Alas, the Sonoma Valley is but a wee part of District 4, which covers all or part of Napa, Lake, Solano, Yolo, Sonoma and Colusa counties. Let’s hope the victor remembers how to get here after November.
The saga the woman arrested at the Graton Casino for using a counterfeit credit card manufactured in a nearby hotel room took a sadder twist. She originally made $10,000 bail (let’s hope they made her pay in cash), but at her arraignment, told the court her three-year-old daughter was unattended in her locked car. Deputies found the young girl sleeping in the backseat. When she opened the door, they also found three capped hypodermic syringes loaded with suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a notebook containing numerous credit card numbers. The girl was turned over to CPS; mom went to the slammer, with Felony Child Endangerment and Possession of Meth charges added to her sheet. And no bail, credit card or otherwise.
On a lighter note — and what took so long – undercover surveillance at the hutch has revealed the identity of the Easter Bunny, at least the one who will be frolicking about the Plaza on Saturday. Inside the brand-new suit is Scott Andrews, from Pacific Rim Auto Repair. Last year, after yet another stint in an old, stinky costume, Andrews ordered a new bunny suit. Loving the new look is Juliette Andrews, and not just because she’s his mom; She’s also the current vice president (and in July, president) of the Sonoma Valley Soroptimists, the club that produces the annual egg hunt.
