Boy to man

IMG_2088-LLieutenant Colonel Noma Martini, an alumnus of Hanna Boys Center, gives an inspiring address to the “Hannopoly — Evening with the All-Stars” gala on Saturday night. Martini spoke of arriving on the campus in 1986 with his own history and challenges. Some 28 years later, said Hanna’s Tamara Stanley, “he has met those challenges in a way that brings both credit and joy to all who knew and helped guide him along through his Hanna years.”

Martini holds dual bachelor’s degrees in American studies and history at UC Berkeley, and a master’s in business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. Since entering the Army in 1996, he has ascended steadily though the ranks. Among his numerous duties has been serving as a helicopter pilot and commander, including combat service in Afghanistan. He has built a family with his wife Manda and daughters, Taylor and Eve, who were among the nearly 400 guests at the April 26 event.
