The Bell Tower atop Sonoma City Hall is getting a structural upgrade. The historic two-story building was seismically strengthened in 1986, but that job did not include the bell tower or bell support frame above the roof, which will now be rehabbed.
The job includes reinforcing the existing roof framing for support of the bell tower, replacement of a portion of the main City Hall upper roof and repair of the low parapet wall surrounding the tower. The bell itself will get a make-over as well. The job, as proposed by Sonoma’s Strata a|p Architecture, will cost about $87,000.
