The Sonoma Theatre Alliance’s Sonoma Nights Showcase series presents two events this month: “An Evening of Poetry,” featuring six Sonoma poets, on Monday, August 18; and “A Grand Night,” a piano concert on Wednesday, August 20.
Both shows begin at 7 p.m. in Andrews Hall of the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St.
The Showcase is a series of intimate performances by regional artists in a variety of genres – music, staged readings, one-person shows, dance, and cabaret acts – presented on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
For the August 18 reading, poet Shotsie Gorman has recruited Judy Altura, Joan Brady, Lin Marie deVincent, Michael Morris, Jonah Raskin and Stacey Tuel to read their works. The evening will include live music, wine and refreshments. Entrance is on a “pay what you will” basis.
The August 20 concert will feature four accomplished pianists — John Dinwiddie, Deborah Knapp, Jack Power, and Alexia Stevens –- playing selections ranging from ragtime to classical. Tickets are $12 at 938.4626 or svbo.org.
