Breakthrough performance

Sonoma’s Scott Knight climbs into a two-seat Indy racecar with legendary driver Mario Andretti at Sonoma Raceway. “Within ten seconds or so we were at 120 miles per hour,” Knight said. “It felt like an awesome roller coaster ride.”

Knight had long wanted to take the Indy hot lap, but remained hesitant after being seriously injured in a head-on collision several years ago. “Fear, the worst word in the English language, stopped me,” he admitted. “My wife Carol encouraged me to fill my wish on the bucket list I have, telling me, ‘tear up the demons of your past.’”

He called the breakthrough lap, hosted by IndyCar Experience during the Sonoma Grand Prix weekend, “my ride of a life time. I was totally in.”

  1. How awesome for Scott. He is a mover and a shaker. I loved reading this article.
